At Ft Lauderdale Boat Rental, we believe in promoting respectful boating practices to enhance everyone's experience on the water. Follow our top rules to ensure you make the right kind of waves while enjoying your Fort Lauderdale boat rental:
- Respect the dock: Show boating etiquette from the moment you arrive. Prepare your equipment before boarding, remove your shoes, and follow the instructions of the captain.
- Own your wake: The captain is responsible for the vessel and must adhere to speed limits and no-wake zones. Avoid creating disruptive waves that can endanger others, such as boaters, swimmers, anglers, or shoreline owners. Stay at least 200 feet away from the shoreline and other boats.
- Keep the tunes in check: While enjoying music on board, be mindful of the volume. Sound carries over the water, so keep the music at a reasonable level to avoid disturbing others and the local community. It's also important for the operator to be able to hear the spotter.
- Pack in, pack out: Practice responsible environmental stewardship. Dispose of any trash properly and do not throw it overboard. Keep our shorelines clean and protect the wildlife and scenic beauty of our waterways.
- Follow the rules of the road: Familiarize yourself with waterway markers and navigation rules. These guidelines dictate how you should operate your vessel to prevent collisions and ensure safe navigation.
- Anchoring and mooring: Approach anchorage or mooring areas at a slow speed to minimize wake. Follow the example of other anchored boats by observing how they tie off, the amount of line they use, and the distance they maintain from other vessels. Provide ample space, especially in busier areas.
- Be polite – give a wave: Embrace the spirit of the boating community by exchanging friendly waves with other boaters when passing by. Enjoy the camaraderie and the joy of boating, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
By adhering to these rules, you can make a positive impact on the boating experience and contribute to the overall enjoyment and safety of everyone on the water. Rent a boat in Fort Lauderdale and demonstrate your commitment to responsible boating practices with Ft Lauderdale Boat Rental.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience on the water with Ft Lauderdale Boat Rental, we've compiled some essential tips. Whether you're on a boat tour with a professional guide or renting a boat with a captain, safety always takes precedence. Read on to discover the top motorboat safety tips to follow during your boat rental journey.
Check the Weather and Prepare Accordingly
Before embarking on a boat tour with Fort Lauderdale Boat Rental and enjoying the picturesque surroundings, it's crucial to be prepared for unexpected weather conditions. Checking the weather forecast for the day is essential to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Even on sunny days, temperatures can drop rapidly while out on the water.
To stay prepared, consider wearing layers if the weather is cooler than expected. It's also advisable to bring a jacket and spare clothes in case of any sudden changes or unforeseen circumstances. Don't forget to protect yourself from the sun by wearing sunscreen or a hat. While a boat rental company will cancel a tour in hazardous weather conditions, it's important for you to take responsibility for safeguarding yourself against the natural elements.
Know where the life vests are
When it comes to boat rentals with Fort Lauderdale Boat Rental, safety should always be a top priority. One essential safety tip is to ensure that everyone on board has access to a personal flotation device (PFD), also known as a life jacket. While they may not be the most fashionable accessory, life jackets are crucial for ensuring the safety of all passengers.
Regardless of your swimming abilities, it's important to wear a PFD while on a boat. According to regulations, children aged 6 and under must wear Coast Guard-approved life jackets on vessels smaller than 26 feet. However, it's recommended that everyone, regardless of age, wears a PFD.
Rest assured that Fort Lauderdale Boat Rental provides PFDs on board for your convenience and safety. Additionally, there is a safety ring buoy available in case of any accidental falls overboard. Prioritizing safety ensures that everyone can enjoy their boat rental experience in Broward County with peace of mind.
Always Use Common Sense
Prior to embarking on a boat adventure with Fort Lauderdale Boat Rental, it's essential for the tour guests to receive a comprehensive briefing. This includes important information such as the itinerary, duration of the trip, and what to expect during the journey. Of utmost importance is ensuring that guests are aware of the location of safety equipment on the boat. Paying close attention to these details, as well as understanding what to wear and bring, is crucial for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Whether you're going on a guided boat trip, fishing excursion, or motorboat adventure, safety remains a top priority. At Fort Lauderdale Boat Rental, our trained captains possess the expertise and professionalism needed to ensure a smooth and efficient trip. They will guide you along the picturesque Fort Lauderdale New River, showcasing attractions such as Downtown, Seven Isles, Las Olas Isles, and Whiskey Creek, all on US Coast Guard-approved motorboats.
